The name

Why we're called Roos

Roos is Afrikaans for rose. It's a small word carrying a big idea about how understanding should arrive — not all at once as a verdict, but gradually, layer by layer, until the whole picture opens up.

Fundamentals Technical Sentiment

Three petals, three layers of a single view — the shape of the logo is the way the product works.

A rose, in another language

Roos is the Afrikaans word for rose — a nod to where the founders come from, and a name that sounds warm and human next to an industry fond of tickers, jargon, and acronyms. We wanted a name that felt like a person handing you a clear answer, not a terminal shouting numbers.

It's also honest about scale. A rose is personal and close at hand — exactly the register we're after: a pocket research desk, not an institutional trading floor.

A rose unfolds. So does research.

Look closely at a rose and there's no single surface — there are layers, each one revealing the next. Good research works the same way. A price chart is only the outermost petal. Beneath it sit the fundamentals; beneath those, the human story of how a business is run and how investors feel about it.

Insight shouldn't arrive as a verdict. It should unfold — layer by layer — until you actually understand.

That's why our logo is three petals, and why every analysis is built in the same order:

1

Price & technical

Trend, momentum, and volatility read straight from price action — SMA, EMA, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, ATR, and returns.

2

Fundamentals

What the business is actually worth and how well it converts revenue to profit — P/E, EV/EBITDA, and margins, each one explained.

3

Sentiment & story

The part numbers can't capture — business operations, news, and how investors perceive a company — surfaced and interpreted by the AI layer.

The numbers computed. The story explained.

Unfolding those layers only helps if you can trust what's inside. So we split the work in two. Every number — every indicator, ratio, and comparison — is computed in code: reproducible, testable, and never invented. The AI layer never does the math. Its job is the other half: reading those verified numbers back to you in plain language, and adding the context, caveats, and human story around them.

Math you can rely on, commentary that makes it make sense. Neither half is enough on its own — together, they're research.

Research, not advice

You'll notice we say research, never advice. That's deliberate. Roos Research exists to help you understand a company more clearly and decide for yourself — not to tell you what to buy or sell. We give you the layers; the conclusion is yours.

Part of Roonie & Schmidt

Roos Research grows out of Roonie & Schmidt Investments — the same people, the same belief that careful, honest research should be within everyone's reach, not locked behind an institutional desk.
